Important Information about Good Karma Sportfishing

Before booking, new clients must read and agree to all boat rules and fishing policies. The fishing charter industry is changing, especially in the Florida Keys, so I have to make some changes and ensure my policies are transparent for new clientele.

Charter fishing is more than just a job for me. I love everything about it, including getting to meet and fish with new people worldwide; every year, I look forward to seeing my regular clients who have become part of my fishing family. I believe in being very upfront with new clients, so I have provided as much information as possible and always tell it like it is. Just remember, please leave any bad vibes or bad attitudes at the dock, good vibes only.

If you have knee or back problems, I highly recommend sourcing another charter operation for backcountry fishing. We are not responsible for any health or body issues or injuries and we want you to have fun.

No Illegal Drugs/ Marijuana Products

Absolutely no marijuana or vaping is allowed aboard Good Karma.

Charter Price
Due to gas and supply prices, we must immediately add a credit card fee if you choose to pay by credit card.
The credit card prices are:
6-hour day $950.00
8-hour day $1250.00
Tipping the Captain: A 20% cash tip is very much appreciated.
*No fuel charge
Passenger Limits
We take a max of 2 adults or two adults/2 children (16 and under). However, because of the drastic increase in marine fuel prices, I can no longer take three adults, no exceptions.
Booking and Cancellation Policy
We may require a valid credit card to hold your charter, but we don’t bill your card before the charter or withhold a deposit. However, if you cancel the night before the charter, the morning of, or do not show up, we will bill you the total amount of the alliance. To make a reservation, please email me at goodkarmaryan@gmail.com. I will return your email within 24 hours after you get your confirmation from me via email. I ask all my clients to text me at 305-619-2126 or email me at goodkarmaryan@gmail.com 3-5 days before the fishing trip. We can start planning our fishing trip and go over the details at that time.
I am always honest about the weather and want you to have fun. But, please remember that I am a fisherman, not a magician. Most captains do not care and will take your money; I care and will be honest about the weather and the fishing; it may not want you to want to hear, but that is how I operate my Florida Keys fishing charter business.
I will not take the reservation unless the client is flexible and willing to have fun fishing the shallow patch reefs from November through April.
Mother nature does not care about us when it comes to our vacations and fishing schedules. Best to book a date and lower your expectations. When you check out my fish gallery page, you will see that my business has numerous regular clients; you will see more regular clients on my page than any other fishing business in the Florida Keys; there is a reason for that.
Good Karma does not penalize clients if we cancel due to weather or mechanical issues. They are for safety reasons, things I cannot control, and never a fun discussion. I love to fish and work with my clients. If the weather looks horrible, I will call you well in advance to discuss your options. I will work to reschedule your charter; if it is not possible, I will cancel it with no penalty. I am not responsible for finding a replacement charter for you, even though I refer you to other marinas. I am also not responsible for the cost of your vacation or time off work. Again, it is never a fun discussion as I love fishing and look forward to taking my clients. I realize most people know this (99.9%), and I appreciate that. Thank you!
No GPS Tracking Devices or Cell Phone Trackers
Using any GPS or cellular tracking phone is stealing from Good Karma Sportfishing. Therefore, these devices are not allowed on the boat and if I see you using one or geotagging, the trip is over and you will be charged the full amount.
Do I need a fishing license to fish on your boat?
All passengers will fish under our charter boat license.
How do I prevent getting seasick?
Here’s how to prevent seasickness.
  • Eat a light meal the night before and get plenty of rest. Avoid a late night of drinking.
  • Avoid eating a heavy, greasy breakfast; trust me on this. I recommend eating something light, such as fruit or toast.
  • Highly recommend taking a motion sickness pill, such as Dramamine, the night before you go to bed, then in the morning before you get on board. All the local pharmacies carry them and patches for advanced cases. It needs to be in your blood system. Taking Dramamine right before you get on the boat will do nothing for you.  Don’t let your ego over talk my experience on this.
*If you or someone in your party gets seasick and you decide to ask to turn the boat around or come home early you will be charged the full amount of the fishing charter.
What do I need to bring for my trip?
Unlike on the mainland, we rarely see clouds cover in the Florida Keys. As a result, our rainstorms are usually brief—sunblock, hat, sunglasses, and light-colored clothes for the summer months.
Please wear comfortable sneakers, rubber fishing boots, or deck shoes that won’t be slippery on the boat. You may bring beer, wine, liquor or any other drinks your may like to have during the trip. We will provide bottle waters.
What should I leave behind?
Please do not bring the following aboard. However, your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
  • No bad attitudes. Fishing is fun, and being out on the water in the Keys is fantastic!
  • No Illegal Drugs or Contraband allowed
Can I bring alcoholic beverages aboard?
You are welcome to bring beer, wine, and liquor.
Can I bring a cooler on board?
You can if you wish; however, it may not be necessary as we provide them for you on board. Please let us know ahead of time, as space is limited.
What can I do with my fish if I visit from out of town or don't feel like cooking it?
We have several local restaurants that cook your catch. They will cook your fresh fillets in various ways with all the fixings at very reasonable prices. Many hotels also have small kitchenettes where you can cook them yourself.
Please Treat Our Gear with Care
If a client drops a rod overboard, they shall be responsible for covering the cost of the rod and reel at the end of the fishing trip. Our fishing reel and rod combinations’ average price is $1500.00 per rod and reel.
